REMINDER: VOLUNTEER MEETING THE SECOND SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH AT FCC, 10:00 AM
Saturday, November 10, 10:00 am
- Connecting- Philippians 2:3-4. Talking about doing all we do in humility, not thinking of ourselves, but thinking of the interests of others.
- How to connect and how not to.
- Video- how NOT to connect. It’s not about us.
- Maia-
i. Intercessory prayer-constant prayer for our youth. Eph 6-putting on the full armor of God. Students will learn by our modeling, and we need to GET ON OUR KNEES.
ii. The veil- disgust, distrust, labeling, etc.- 2 Cor 3:16-18-seeing people through the eyes of Christ, not of the world. God is not surprised by their stuff or ours, so why should we be?
iii. Veil of fear- prevents effective leadership because the leader is afraid. Joshua 1:9, 2 Timothy, 1 Peter 5:2-3, Titus 2:7-8. We are privileged to be standing on Holy Ground with these youth!
- Do They Run… book discussion-4 Ways to Repel Youth
- Speaking or acting condescendingly
- Eating your words, acting hypocritically
- Righteous confrontation
- Making them feel like they don’t belong
- Youth have 5 philosophical questions
- Where did I come from- creation?
- Who am I- identity?
- What’s the point- meaning?
- What’s the right path for me- morality?
- Where am I going- eternity?- it’s easy to trust Christ with death because there are no other options… but what about tomorrow?
- Group discussion- talked about praise reports and struggles.
- Things to work on-
- Snack- Very important, as we are providing a meal for some students. Should be here 1 week before your group’s food will be served. Suggested to pass out slips a couple weeks early, leader call and follow up with parents the week the food is due to church
- Off campus- all groups must stay on campus unless they have prior approval from Pete and parents have been notified.
- Punctuality- 8:30 warning bell
- Parking lot- students are not allowed to play in the parking lot at all
- Alignment- important to present a untied front to the youth, not a divided one.
- Attitude in communication- giving grace, our program is not yet a well oiled machine J
- Tear down rotation-leaders and group
Saturday, October 13, 10:00 am
