REMINDER: VOLUNTEER MEETING THE SECOND SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH AT FCC, 10:00 AM

Saturday, November 10, 10:00 am

  1. Connecting- Philippians 2:3-4. Talking about doing all we do in humility, not thinking of ourselves, but thinking of the interests of others.
  2. How to connect and how not to.
    1. Video- how NOT to connect. It’s not about us.
    2. Maia-

                                                               i.      Intercessory prayer-constant prayer for our youth. Eph 6-putting on the full armor of God. Students will learn by our modeling, and we need to GET ON OUR KNEES.

ii.      The veil- disgust, distrust, labeling, etc.- 2 Cor 3:16-18-seeing people through the eyes of Christ, not of the world. God is not surprised by their stuff or ours, so why should we be?

iii.      Veil of fear- prevents effective leadership because the leader is afraid. Joshua 1:9, 2 Timothy, 1 Peter 5:2-3, Titus 2:7-8. We are privileged to be standing on Holy Ground with these youth!

  1. Do They Run… book discussion-4 Ways to Repel Youth
    1. Speaking or acting condescendingly
    2. Eating your words, acting hypocritically
    3. Righteous confrontation
    4. Making them feel like they don’t belong
  2. Youth have 5 philosophical questions
    1. Where did I come from- creation?
    2. Who am I- identity?
    3. What’s the point- meaning?
    4. What’s the right path for me- morality?
    5. Where am I going- eternity?- it’s easy to trust Christ with death because there are no other options… but what about tomorrow?
  3. Group discussion- talked about praise reports and struggles.
  4. Things to work on-
    1. Snack- Very important, as we are providing a meal for some students. Should be here 1 week before your group’s food will be served. Suggested to pass out slips a couple weeks early, leader call and follow up with parents the week the food is due to church
    2. Off campus- all groups must stay on campus unless they have prior approval from Pete and parents have been notified.
    3. Punctuality- 8:30 warning bell
    4. Parking lot- students are not allowed to play in the parking lot at all
    5. Alignment- important to present a untied front to the youth, not a divided one.
